Chamber & Member News – June 2020

A Note from the Chamber Office

As you know, this is usually a very busy time for our chamber with the planning and preparation for Fireworks on the River, the Community Celebration and the Education Awards.

The committees have been working diligently to adjust and rearrange plans for these events to comply with the CDC and NYS Guidelines.  And yes, we are running out of time but we have not given up yet.  So here is some info for you.

Education Awards event is being coordinated with the American Legion to arrange another date other than June 19th which was the date we originally planned to hold the award ceremony.  Sponsors and scholarship recipients will be contacted as soon as plans are finalized

Fireworks on the River.  We have not canceled this event YET.  Many conversations are still taking place regarding this event and whether we can still bring this to our community.  Many many agencies are involved in this planning and any delay from any agency slows this process down greatly.  Two of the agencies we are working with and awaiting answers from are NYS agencies, which are closed because of the COVID 19 pandemic.  We will keep you posted through our facebook page and email conversations when we have more answers.

Thank you for your patience as we navigate these difficult times.  We are here to support our chamber members and community members as much as we can.  We appreciate you.

ALSO …. REMEMBER that you still have the opportunity to bring your message to the chamber Facebook page – LIVE!  If you are interested, or need more information, please call the chamber office at 315-668-3408

Trinity Episcopal Church

Trinity Episcopal Church in Constantia is preparing for it’s August 2020 rummage sale.  If you are sorting and need to get rid of stuff please think of us.This is how we support our church and everything stays in the area.  We have set up an enclosed tent next to the church where you can drop off your donations, without any human contact.  It is emptied frequently. If you need a receipt for donations keep a list and stop up during the sale and we will gladly give you a form.

  Thank you in advance,
Rummage Sale Committee

(Oswego, NY – May 29, 2020) The respiratory triage tent that Oswego Health erected outside its hospital emergency department has officially been taken down as of today. This portable tent, which was constructed on April 20 to triage all emergency walk-in visits to assist with screening of patients prior to entry into the facility, was part of Oswego Health’s preparedness should a surge of COVID-19 patients arrive at the hospital. However, over the past six weeks there continues to be low patient volumes as well as the need for hospitalization of COVID-19 patients. With a stable patient volume and the continued visitation restrictions, Oswego Health no longer needs an isolated triage center outside the building. Proper measures are in place in the emergency department as all patients will continue to be screened upon arrival and directed as they access care in a socially distant and safe environment.Associate Chief Medical Officer, Micheal Stephens, MD, AAFP shared, “Our continued goal is to make people feel comfortable seeking emergent care for any illnesses or injury that can become serious without prompt attention. Oswego Hospital is a very safe environment, in fact, it may be safer than it ever has been, because of the new safety procedures.”Oswego Health partnered with local vendor, Rental Warehouse, for the installation of the triage tent. The tent is readily available and can be installed within 24-hours should the need arise.Stephens added, “this experience proved our entire staff is capable of quickly managing an emergency department outside of our walls and I have the utmost confidence that should our community need care, we are prepared, and we are safe.
